In December 2015, U.S. President Barack Obama signed into law nearly $1 billion in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) research funding for fiscal year 2016. This is a 60 percent increase from the $586 million funded in 2015 and marks the largest increase ($350 million) in a single year for federal AD research funding. The funding will be administered through the U.S. National Institutes of Health.
